It’s July and we just returned from Carolina Beach in NC and Garden City Beach in SC where we did several super fun family photography sessions. All the sand and waves have me thinking of beach weddings.
Beach weddings are dreamy. Here are a few pros & cons to consider when planning your beach wedding.
First, the obvious… it’s the beach! The sand, waves, and dunes are the perfect backdrop for a wedding. There is plenty of room for guests. The atmosphere can be casual or dressy. You can coordinate with beach venues that can help with decor/seating or you can have a short ceremony where guests stand and limit decor to the scenery. Something to consider… weather can change quickly and rain showers often pop up unexpectedly. Wind can be a factor… it can affect hairstyles, as well as, blow decor items over. Dresses are affected by wind, too. Full or short flowing skirts may flow in the breeze. Using an arbor? It needs to be anchored well… you don’t want it crashing to the ground mid ceremony. Don’t forget that the beach may be cold or super hot depending on the time of year. Also, take care in selecting your beach site for the ceremony… You want to be away from beach goers who have umbrellas and gear that might show up in the backgrounds of your photos.
